  • Umm yes the stuff they sell here is absinthe, we have the same laws as European countries up to 10mg/l of thujone, not that thujone matters for "effect" its most likely the combination of the herbs, the only difference is European countries have the "bitter" or "amer" law in which they are aloud up to 35mg/l of thujone but must say bitter or amer on the bottle, not that the thujone contents matter anyway.

  • I really don't like this clip. They tried too hard to sensationalize the drink. "It had a tendency to drive drinkers to madness"... Ummm, so does all alcohol. The crap about Van Gogh cutting off his ear. Thujone is a hallucinogen? Ummm, no it's not. Just once I'd like to see an honest, accurate bit done on absinthe without trying to sensationalize it to the "we wanna trip ballz" crowd.

  • As far as I know there is no evidence that Poe drank absinthe. A lot of ppl like to think he did, the romance of it all, but again there is no evidence he drank absinthe.

  • LOl lets go nd give meeh a shot of that drink heheheh

  • mr Gogh did cut off his ear after drinking some Absinthe and posted it to his best freind. But then also after Vincent drank a whole bottle of absinthe he went out into the field and attempted to commit suicide. But he drank it all the time, it doesn't mean it caused him to do it, Gogh was a nut job anyhow...but a talented nut job at that!

  • Agreed...citing thujone as a "hallucinogen" shows they yielded to the temptation of sensationalizing the issue and didn't properly research the topic. Which unfortunately feeds into the myth that spammers use as a crutch to market their bad industrial alcohol oil mixes to the gullible.
