I love fishing the Mickey Finn in the early spring here in New Brunswick for Atlantic salmon but it's not only for salmon, trout, bass, pike and pickerel seem to like chomping down on it as well. Great fun to fish.
Good tie of the original version. I fish a variant tied with a tube of silver, nylon, plastic canvas cord with the wing, same colours, of dyed monga ringtail . This has proven to be a really good pattern for me for Atlantic salmon during water around 45-50F and even in coloured water.
very nice thank you

I tie a variant of this fly with gold flat tinsel, oval silver tinsel, and yellow and orange goat hair. Very effective fishing brook trout !
