they are 2 rly different things...

while facebook focuses on twitter like statuses and chatting

orkut is like a huge forum...theres a forum for every single soccer team/tv show/band and whatnot all of which with lots of active users...

also orkut was launched in jan '04, while facebook was launched in feb '04
