  • In such a tight all-female community, I'm sure that lesbian relationships do develop and have their place, as much as the company would like to discourage the fact. A lot of the actresses do not identify as male or lesbians, even the ones who excel in the most masculine roles.

But lesbianism doesn't define Takarazuka and it's not the first thing one should think of when seeing Zuka's plays. The heart of Zuka has nothing to do with whether the actresses or the characters are gay or not.

  • I definately can say that the earlier commenter was very wrong about Beijing opera not having gay aspects. In the old days, actors who played women were often loved by men and had relations. As for Tarazuka, of course most fans aren't lesbian, but maybe have some ambiguous feelings. As a lesbian, I like Tarazuka, but for different reasons. Most Tarazuka fans like the men the women perform; lesbians like the women who perform men. Either way, who cares? TZ is wonderful, so just enjoy it.

  • @TaxiOnna they are straight, most of them get married such Maya Miki, Amami Yuki, Ichiro Maki, Kuze Seika etc.

  • Actually, like many of their male counterparts in Kabuki, there is same-sex love that occurs within the boundaries of Takarakuza, especially since it is an accepted outlet for many women who identify as male, or masculine. Technically your outrage about someone "not doing their research" could be incorrect, because if one were to do research on this matter the would discover the prevalence of female-female relationships in Takarazuka. Perhaps one should not jump to either conclusion so quickly?

  • I love miki maya forever

  • OMG!!Are you crazy?

    They are NOT lesbian!

u know beijing opera in earlier days male singers had to perform female roles, would u say beijing opera is a gay opera??

Do some research before leaving your comments!!
