I recently sat down and figured out "Neptune's Daughter," one of my favorite songs by the Divine Comedy. This was aided greatly by the amazing, stripped down "Radio Version," which appears on the "Frog Princess" CD single and features only piano and guitar.
It was raining today and I figured this was the perfect time to try and capture a recording of it. (Apologies for the quality...I don't have expensive equipment and recorded this on my cell phone.) Quite serendipitously, the sun started to emerge a bit as I got to the triumphant bridge section.
I do realize I made a couple of tiny mistakes (I got two chords slightly wrong...and I'm still struggling with the two left hand runs at the end of every verse, and thus omitted them entirely), but this is probably the best I've ever performed it!
Comments from any Divine Comedy fans worldwide are welcome!
Beautiful music, and excellent work! We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.
