El Corrido del Niño sin Celos
Roy E. Howard

The Ballad of the Selfless Boy

Kind sirs, please give me just a little time
to tell you the story of a boy who was so kind.
The month was December, the year I can't remember.
The poor boy in this tale put a letter in the mail.

The little boy was called Johnny Jesse Hall
He thought not of himself, but of his little sister's health.
As she laid in bed the TV put thoughts in her head
Of the toys and games and the dolls with endless names.

Johnny worried for his sister, that if Santa ever missed her
She would be so sad just like last year which was bad
Because in every past year, though he listened for the reindeer
He never had the fun of a Santa Claus to come.

With a pencil and a tear, Johnny wrote like this, this year,
Asking as he wrote for a doll with yellow coat:
"This year", he said with pause, I write not to Santa Claus.
the South Pole is the post of the famous Pancho Clos!

As the day drew near, Johnny had a tear
And during December Johnny never did remember
Anything of his own needs as he thought of his sister's dreams.
Pancho he forgot, of his sister was his thought.

What a big surprise as they rubbed their sleepy eyes!
Pancho came that night to his sister's great delight
But the greatest treasure of the day and all its pleasure:
Was the simple joy of the happy, Selfless Boy.

Fly my little dove with this message filled with love:
That Pancho came that night to his sister's great delight.
In the hearts of those who give, long will peace and joy live.
Like in the simple joy of the happy, Selfless Boy.
