@elisabethle That's because in the book, he dies years later. It's not like a movie where they can easily jump back years in the future three minutes to the end. You gotta understand how this stuff works before you complain that it's not the same as the book.

What was that laughter about?

@CancerousPiesRTasty Ahhh thankyou! I read the the Signalman shortly before seeing this show and THAT has been bugging me ever since.
-
@elisabethle the musical took parts of "the signal-man" by charles dickens as well as the woman in white.

Love the OLCR. Wish the video actually had Laura confronting Glyde though.

Oh my gosh, 3 years later I STILL love this and still come to watch it! And it STILL gives me the chills and makes me cry a bit. :)

Train? There's no train in the book....
Something about the pacing of the stageplay just didnt grab me with this production..It's beautifully written with a devastating score and intense plot..with white hot (no pun intended) emotional content but it just seemed to be like a baton changing race this finally. I dont recall the original leaving me quite as detached from events. Fantastic show overall though and very powerfully put across on the whole.

what an insightful, intelligent analysis. I've always thought it was a bit of a "collage" myself.

I can tell you that the creators changed the key for I Believe My Heart to suit the voices of the specific actors in the "2.0" version. They both had higher voices than the original Walter and Laura which isn't better or worse, just different. Everyone has a place where their voice "sits," and the creative team wanted the new actors to sound their best.
