Western and Eastern units are on par with each other, though the Eastern empire has a slight advantage due to the cataphracts and the Eastern archers, which are better than the bowmen the Western empire has. The east also have camels which are great on deserts.

@Jakem050594, yeah with oval shields, they can´t make testudo formation :(, testudo formation was, how I think the best battle formation in antiquity, Phalanx formation used by greeks was good too but romans have had better battle tactics. I think Roman army can defeat any army of middle ages. They were best.....

@Jakem050594, becuase they had them in that ages, old legions are gone and this is new modern roman army......I prefer rectangular shields. And old roman army too. it was better. But this is history.

I'm not a huge fan of night time battles. I like them, and I think they're cool, but it's hard to see. The torches kind of mess up my eye sight.
