I get a lot of people picking my brain about wine and one of the most commonly asked questions is; "what is your favorite wine?" Well I have too many to name and it all depends on the mood I am in the moment before I open that bottle. Am I about to sit down to a meal or am I just getting home from a hard days work (that means I have already been drinking for several hours). One of my favorite wines to just crack the bottle and drink is California Cabernet Sauvignon, the ultimate in immediate gratification in a big hearty red wine and one of my favorite California Cabernets is Caymus Special Selection.
Do I need to tell you that it is one of the most consistent wines from Napa Valley and in the 29 vintages that Caymus Special Selection has been released to date the wine has scored an average of (92 Points) according to the Wine Spectator. Making it the #1 Cabernet Sauvignon based wine of all time according to that publication. And this is one time that I might agree with them, we had the 1976 last year at our vintage California treasures tasting and it was spectacular! Well, I don't recommend that you keep this 2008 that long as Randy Dunn made the 1976 Special Selection and the new releases are very different in style making them appealing to drink upon release. We have just worked out a special deal with Caymus Winery giving us to give you one of
the best prices in the country on the #1 Cabernet Sauvignon of all time from Napa Valley!
