The video I posted of poorly-equipped marines crying in Iraq was given to me by marines. Go look at it, they are wearing usmc uniforms.

For years leading up to the current mess, marine narcissists have refused to mechanize properly into squad-sized tracked armored fighting vehicles boasting instead that the "marine rifleman" is the most powerful weapon who does WW1-style foot slogs that would make the 2 million+ Frenchmen proud who went "over-the-top" and were cut to pieces by inter-locking machine gun fire and quick-firing artillery. Here, the marine John Poole-style narcissists have gotten the house-to-house "urban infiltration" boasted upon---but the enemy ain't playing fair and trading AK47 shots but is playing to win with high explosives..."Supporting our troops" does not mean supporting their narcissistic incompetent bullshit and its high time we tell the marines to drop their failure-creating pride (the sin of "I") or we disband them and stop subsidizing their self-pity and inverse arrogance at being self-created victims at U.S. taxpayer's expense.

We should not be fighting third world country baby machines with our ZPG kids with M16s versus AK47 & RPGs; wars are necessary evils that should be brought to quick conclusions and should be fought with clever and calculated combining of ALL our tools and not devolve into some kind of sick, inbred, "peer approval" penis validation exercise. The Lord Jesus Christ may not or should not help you if during the lead up to the crisis you were bragging that you are "devil dogs" and other narcissistic crap exaltation that is self-idolatry. Before honor there must be HUMILITY. Before there is success problems must be admitted to and solved--aka HUMILITY---an organization that worships itself is incapable of reform since it lacks the necessary virtue to admit to any mistakes. We don't need incompetent victims, we need competent thinker/doer adults who smother wars with skilled tracked armored maneuver backed by combat engineering terrain control---and not create more people that hate us as we flail about in juvenile rage.

I've had lots of opportunities to pray in combat myself, but I've been an agnostic since junior high school.

Video is weird though. When I was a cpl, I would have told that dude to STFU and he would have done it. I saw more people get teary eyed after action.

Oh well, the lowly mortar is the main killer of us infantrymen, we should be scared of it.

Forget trying to fight the war(s) better, my vote is to end them and return to good ole trade

You mean DISMOUNTED light infantrymen.

Infantry mounted in tracked armored tanks (light, medium and heavy mechanized) can avoid having to hole up in houses and can advance in the face of mortar fire.

Avoiding needless wars is ideal, but at some point we have to learn how to do it CORRECTLY; foot-slogging from wheeled trucks isn't it.

I can't believe some of the comments in this thread. Nothing is worse than hit by something that falls out of the sky at random. You can't fight back, and the seconds between the bangs are an eternity. Everyone, especially the new guys think that the next round has their name on it.

You feel like you are suffocating. Panic like I hear here can spread, and some guys will even run from cover. It takes a leader in a group like this. Just telling them to "shut up and take it" helps.

It's clear they are on the receiving end of some kind of HE. I hear no sound other than impact, the bursts are single, so the incoming rounds are from a single mortar tube instead of high-velocity artillery or rocket fire.

No pressure waves disturbing the dust, no shrapnel bouncing around, and no obvious direct hits on the building. It's not a fun place to be (I've been there), but I don't understand the sheer panic. I suspect these guys are real green... first timers.

Wow some scared 18 year old kids 5,000 miles from home laying helplessly in their barracks while mortars land in their FOB. What do you excpect them to do? Stand up and brandish their fists at the mortar crew thats 6km away? No thier doing what soldiers do in a situation they cant control asking for help from a higher power.

You guys are generalizing the entire US marine corps because of a video of a handful of young kids that are clearly afraid under some moderate fire that they have probably never experienced before. If you are, then you are ENTIRELY ignorant. I do agree with nomorenarcissism about the fact that all transportation in the entire U.S. military should be heavily armored though. Thats an obvious fact.
