Tom Shipley and Michael Brewer, lost live footage from the archive!
First, a beautiful rendition of "Indian Summer" (found on the "Weeds" album from 1970, Kama Sutra Music)
Then, "Wichi Tai To", written by Jim Pepper, Love Truth Music (also found on "Weeds" album.
*** Interesting fact: "Wichi Tai To" is actually an authentic Native American song, based on a Peyote Chant taught to Jim Pepper by his Grandfather.
Filmed in slow-shutter shrommy dreaminess at a National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws party, co-hosted by High Times magazine.

Mingo filmed this concert for his friend Jean, who was back in jail in Asheville, NC for medical marijuana. Here's Mingo and fellow activist asking NORML for help one day earlier:

  • Absolutely one of my favorite duos, their voices just play off of each other so beautifully.

  • Wonderful memory, fine musicians.

  • Hey, A "One Toke Over the Line: The Best of Brewer and Shipley", and a combo "Weeds" and "Tarkio" cd are out there. Enjoy the treat

  • Savrseno.

  • My least favorite B & S album is "One Toke" and that's the only one available on CD.

Go figure. They have a great catalogue. Way under rated.

  • They had an album with no name, just the album serial number, 117261 around mid seventies. I always like that one.

  • Saw "Brewer and Shipley"here many years ago,I believe that they were the opening act for either Harry Chapin or Gordon Lightfoot. I had no idea they were still around.Great music from a simpler time.

  • I would do anything for these guys to come to South Australia. Their music is my daily life.

  • Thanks for putting this up--have to make one correction--it's Tom Shipley, not Jim. Otherwise, Kudos to you!!

  • Great to see/hear them again--they still are amazing. Saw them several times back in the day....
