MAC brush discussion: 239 & 242

Intended for beginners: A little information about the infamous 242 and 239 brushes by MAC. My personal opinion on them, and why you should buy them if you haven't already.

I've noticed that the 239 is better for firmer shadows, like the satin, matte and matte2 formulas. It's awesome for emollient based products too. It works fairly well with just about any type of eyeshadow, esp those that are hard to pick up due to the firmer texture of the goat hair bristles.

I've noticed that the 242 is better for looser shadows, softer shadows or pigments. The texture of the bristles allow the product to cling to the bristles but not "soak" in. It's great for building up your color. I love using it for veluxe pearls, veluxe, lustre's, etc.

BOTH brushes are must haves, in my humble opinion. If you are starting your MAC brush collection, do not pass these up. It's even good to have several of each so that you always have a clean one on hand.

nah the holiday sets are good, esp for travel. they're just not AS soft as the long handled ones. but they still get the job done. its really about preference.i say keep your 2 sets girl, because i plan on buying 2 myself for travel. dont want anything happening to my fullsized ones. i'd be pissed lol.

Love the video! One of my 1st MAC brushes was the Mac 242. I use it for my concealer.

I recommend the #239 more, but they are BOTH great brushes. If you have the onley to buy both you should. Each are great in their own way.
