Your emotional outbust will not take you nowhere..

unlike cheezcola, i don't respect your view. lopez lomong came to america to escape a hard, over-bearing government, same as the original settlers who built america, who were in also refugees. he works hard to achieve his goals. until you can run the 1500 meter in 3:27.07, i suggest you stfu

Yes, but his real name is Lopepe Lomong, and Lopez is his nick name
How can you people say this stuff? Yes he is an American and the good thing about America is that they let new people into our country! gosh,

okay look, yeah i appreciate you saying your thoughts, but this guy comes from my hometown and he was one of the best things that came to our school. America is all about freedom and letting new people come into our country. America is all about different cultures coming together, and that shows you that we welcome any type of people and this really shows something good and that we're not all the same,I mean who would want a country that the people look all the same?this guy is a real inspiration

tremendous story, inspiring and heartwarming; this guy deserved to carry the flag.

WTF!! some people here dont have hearts. This guy went through alot.. I bet if you were in his shoes, you'd be dead or perhaps didnt have the faith to believe in a dream.. He makes me smile and all u negative/jealous people go suck a d.
many of us sit in our comfy homes, eating whatever we want, drinking whatever we want. i love hearing about stories like this, because it allows me to keep me in check before i have a little pitty party for myself.
Lopez Lomong, i'm happy you made it out and have flourished! Good luck with the games!

Lomong, as your fellow South Sudanese, I can't tell you enough how happy I am. You're not only representing one of the greatest country in the world, but your native country (South Sudan) as well. I grew up in refugee camp myself and I can related to you in many ways. Keep up the good work brother.
