Parental choice and parental responsibility in the education of children is the U.S. tradition and is consistent with a free society. Centralized government control has eroded freedom and adversely affected the quality of education. The poor help pay for education for the future rich. Friedman has long advocated using vouchers to solve the problem. He explains why. Friedman visits U.S. and Britain.

  • Why were American kids among the smartest when government had little control of schools, and why has their education steadily declined as government control has increased?

  • @SuaveSavant Wow Suave is haven't voted democrat or republican for 30 years. Why: because there is no difference between them. My hope for change has been Pat Buchanan, Ross Perot and even Ron Paul.

  • @SuaveSavant I personally believe that the Treaty of Versailles created Natism.

And your type of thinking, has produced fertile ground here in American, for the same mentality to take hold again. I firmly believe bankrupting the American People will get a reaction.

  • If you say so, I'm not a communist. I'm not brainwashed into worshipping any given nation. I'll respect what individuals did, but I'm not worshipping a nation in and of itself. That's irrational, that's how you get things like Nazism.

  • @SuaveSavant I'me really happy that the WW11 vets didn't feel that way. You are a continuation of the " better red than dead" generation of the 1960s.

  • Then you are tragically lost to reason if you think arbitrary entities like nations mean anything in the larger shceme of humanity.

  • @SuaveSavant No thanks I don't care for the treatement you have recieved. Friedman is a lapp dog for multinational Corporations.

  • @SuaveSavant Free unfettered trade is the worse thing ever forced on the American People. Only someone who has had every bit of common sense educated out of them would believe otherwise. If you make it in China sell it in China.

  • You seem to be caught up in the fallacious thinking that has you focused on local equilibrium in a global market. I would encourage you to watch more of Milton Friedman's videos, particularly the one I linked as he can explain this stuff to you. Who knows, you might change your mind and not vote in Democrats who are for "protecting jobs."

  • I'm not actively doing that. The market is doing that as does the market do that inbetween cities and inbetween states. Just because an ocean seperates you or there's this abitrary distance between you, does not necessarily mean you need to restrict free trade. Everyone benefits under Free Trade in the long run. Everyone. The same principle about Capitalism that has raised our standard of living justifies trading with other people from other nations.

  • @SuaveSavant Yes we do need to get all Globalist and Free Traders out of office. We need another Pat Buchanan or Ross Perot.
