MSX - Dragon Slayer 6 (1990) - Opening

"Dragon Slayer 6: The Legend Of Heroes" is the full name of this classic RPG game from Falcom. It was ported to several different systems from that era and it had many sequels - not on the MSX unfortunately. The original game is in Japanese only and therefore unplayable for most outside of Japan. Oasis, a dutch MSX fan group, however, translated it into english in 1995. They didn't translate the opening sequence, though. If someone can read this and translate it, please do; I'm very curious.

As far as I can tell, te story revolves around Selios, a young, blonde prince, who is supposed to ascend the throne but falls victim to a plot to kill him and steal the throne from him. He barely escapes and starts a quest for loyal comrades to take on the plot-makers. It's a classic RPG in which you meet new characters to play with, switch between them and upgrade them with skills and weapons. It features turn-based battles like you might be used to from the Final Fantasy games.

The music, as with many games from that time, was enhanced by making use of a custom sound chip, "MSX Audio" or "MSX Music/FMPac". Not to be confused with Konami's own SCC chip. The chip was available separately as a ROM cartridge and was added onboard MSX2+ systems. Some other videos I uploaded here, like the openings of Fray and the Xak series or the Aleste games, they also use this enhanced sound.

Took me ages to figure out the part where you had to put away all of armor and weapons to enter through the forcefield, haha, the patience to play japanese games, that is onheard of now. Instant gratification is the key now in games
