A very early version of Wizarz, a 3D adaptation for linux of the old paper and pen game "Spellcasting".
tech stuff :
The characters were created using MakeHuman (nightly builds) Blender2.49b, gimp and myPaint. The sound effects were created using the great open source linux audio tools (through Jackd), with a special mention to Bristol, which is an absolutely amazing piece of software.
It's written in c++, using Ogre3D and openAL. Team Size : 1, Budget : a lot of time ;)
What works : the UI is nearly finished, LUA scripts are used to control AI (the one used for the video just iterates through all the spells), 6 spells are already implemented (shield (that's the egg-shaped thingy), fireball, Cure Light Wound (blue particles), Poison (green particles), and Remove Enchantment (smoke)), spell chaining is working nicely and is relatively intuitive, the animation controls are working nicely.
What doesn't or needs to be redone: the spell effects on the players are there, but I don't actually use them yet, pretty much every character animation needs to be redone, some new animations need to be created too, a lot of audio effects need to be created some smart AI needs to be written too, the last 36 spells need a visualization (the summoned creature part is going to be tough I think).
Sorry about the bad quality. Recording a game is one of the few things for which windows is definitely better suited.
@qubodup even simpler than you'd think. I just randomized the UV Mapping on two stretched balls and scroll a gradient texture vertically. Sometimes you don't need complex shaders :)
