  • @Stevedup There's no question about it. "Watermelon Man" is Oscar-worthy and quite honestly, this movie is more effective than it's somewhat successor, "Soul Man" starring C. Thomas Howell.

  • @redcasualties...The title of that particular song is: "Soul'd on You". You can buy the "Watermelon Man" soundtrack on amazon.com.

  • Does anyone know if I can get that song from the strip club scene on vinyl or whatever format. . .that shit is funky!

  • it's no doubt in my mind that van peebles' movie Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song is his citizen kane. it's a movie which has become so popular that it overshadows all of the other great work he's done. i remember seeing this movie and falling in love, and it's a shame more of his movies aren't more talked about.

  • I watched it. Now, let's never speak of it again.

  • there needs to be a remake of this......

  • i love this film......so sad though...i first saw it in 1983

  • This is a very sad story, but so true/real as well too. This movie was made in 1970, we`ve got now 2010: The laws has changed, but (most of the people) their mind, thougts and their "ACTIONS/ REACTIONS" are unfortunatly not.

    Thank you for this movie.

    Love, Peace, Harmony and Respect

  • At first viewing then in the miiddle whe the niegbors bought him out I felt deep sadness. thse sorts of plots did happen i n her The U S A .I wept.real tears. Thi movie needs to be replayed over and over.

  • This film was way ahead of it's time a real throwback to certain times. Have things really changed?

  • Haven't seen this for YEARS - TY for posting!
