@jasonarmstrong1982 its my favorite too :) not the drop one tho i prefer standing one, uchimata, sode tsurikomi goshi & tsurikomi goshi,seoi otoshi(not on knees), ouchi,osoto, tomoe nage are my fav throws

This is my favorite Judo throw, by far. Seoi Nage is a perfect example of the very essence of Judo and Japanese martial arts in general.

@Wrestlefan1 basicly there is a list of allowed throws for competition. besides that if you throw some1 "'perfectly'' or on his back you 'll get an ippon and win the match and if you throw them and not get an ippon you'll have 30 seconds to fight him on the ground and once you get him / her into a lock / choke they have another 15 sec to come out. i believe

Can someone please explain the rules of a judo competition to me.. i been training in Judo for a couple months now... but have never competed.. I have wrestled.. is it anything like that??

ippon doesnt mean point. it means "one" or "single". Ippon Seoi Nage means "one-arm shoulder throw".
When the refs say ippon, they are awarding ONE point, which is all it takes to win the match.
