First meet, first jump of the new season. I'm satisfied with the approach, speed and hop-step distance (from a 41 foot board) but clearly there were some technical difficulties that hurt my jump phase and the jump overall. Blog post: http://www.samyrlaine.com/?p=994

  • Nice opener. I like your take off phase and your jump phase. Your second phase is a little off balance, which I always struggled with when I tripled. You got a lot left in the tank...you will hit a big one no doubt!

  • @makalani28 Thanks a lot. I'm definitely planning on putting it together soon and fixing that off balance step phase. Great to have the indoor season to work on things!

  • Man i watched your other videos and seen that you cycle your hop all the way over. Seem to cut it short when comming from a full approach. I had the same problem recently... Your arms are going back to fast not allowing the knee to be exposed up front... like you did in your short approach on the outside video... see you around hopefully...

  • @Neefy08 Good eyes; couldn't have said it better myself and I was just working on slowing things down and being patient in the phases a couple of days ago. I'm still getting used to bringing this much speed into the hop but it's going to come together quite soon. Definitely see you around!

  • What's the best way to fix your technique? because I can easily do it when i'm jogging, but when I do my full approach it falls apart.

  • @y3ll0wf1shy Utilizing speed in practice is perhaps only way. This may mean working on your hops from a full approach or taking short approach jumps from kind of far out (12-14 steps) and bringing speed so that when you come from a full approach you've had some work and experience with the speed. Trust me though, I am still getting used to jumping with speed as well since prior to this year I had an issue with stuttering and slowing down before the board. It just takes some getting used to.

  • Very nice! Good job keeping your speed through the jumps.

  • @Jumperajay I see you man. Do it up; I'll be looking out for you. I'm also planning on competing at your National Champs in June. We'll see...

  • @Jumperajay You're 100% right about that. Definitely need to take care of that going forward!
