Struvite is a biogenic mineral of the composition magnesium ammonium phosphate hexahydrate (MgNH4PO4•6H2O), with a solubility of 0.2 g/L in water. Struvite contains 5.7% N and 12.6% P by weight with 9.9% Mg. As long ago as 1858, struvite has been proposed as potential phosphorus source for agriculture.
