Wow, I really never expected this to happen and luckily I captured it on camera. First, there is an interesting story behind this.
So I found a grasshopper in my backyard. (those things are huge for insects) And I called my dad and he picked it up by the legs (he's from the ranch...you know what I mean) and threw it in the turtle box. As soon as he ripped off the first leg, I ran for the camera. I ran out of recording time. After rewatching it I kind of felt sad...

  • oh my god..

  • i fucking hate grasshoppers

  • ....ewwww

  • Anthonyluc56@ it should be a red eared slider

  • what kind of turtle is it

  • my turtle first bites the head off a grasshopper

  • I had a red ear turtle and used to go catch them for him.. he liked them allot..

  • It depends what kind of turtle. Tortoises, as you describe, eat only leaves and grass. But Aquatic turtles (like in this video) eat mostly protein, from insects and fish. Box turtles eat plants AND protein.

  • Wow, your turtles eat them too? I have turtles too, I fed them a grasshopper, I have three, a little one, a bit littler than yours, and two bigger. They ate it in 30 seconds... It's nice food for them.

  • same here
