This exercise is great for increasing mobility in the thoracic (upper) spine. Most people who have a hunched over posture can benefit tremendously from this drill.

While lying on a foam roller, give yourself a hug or place your hands behind your head.

Walk the roller from the base of the ribs (just above the lower back) to just above the shoulder blades. Repeat 2-3 times. Remember to stay off the lower back.

If you hear any cracking and popping during this drill it is totally normal. People with long hair or hooded sweatshirts should be careful not to get them caught under the roller.
