Created with a KORG microSAMPLER (MS) being controlled by a nanoPAD and audio from a CD player, [FX POS] is set to [AUDIO IN]. I set the X Y pad to send CNTL 12 and 13 with release values to maintain stability when releasing the pad. The nanoPAD's pads are set to send CNTL12 with on/off values of 10, 20, 30 etc on each of the pads. The LOOPER was set to the same BPM as the tune. Combining these products really opens up the true potential of the MS as you can choose which FX parameters are controlled by the pad, the KP3 can't do this so the MS wins here. Don't forget this can all be captured as a sample so you can free up the FX for further processing. This is a re-render of movie I put up Sunday morning, hope this is clearer visually. Thanks for watching

  • wow can i do this with the kontrolPad?

  • @jbl420 yes!!! The nanopad2 can send up to 4 CCs per pad and the original nanopad (used in the video) 8 CCs per pad. Basically this allows you to instantly dial in settings to the effects, The same can be done using the microsampler's 2 real time controls but getting this kind of accuracy and speed is impossible. The X-Y pad is a more natural way of controlling the effects and requires little skill.

  • hi, you have to use a computer to get this to work as the microsample can only act as a slave USB device.

  • thanks...thing is it's so easy. you can achieve the pretty much the same using with a KORG padkontrol, then you don't need a PC! Even better for live performance

  • Hi, you can do the same with KP3 but depends on what you mean. You can use the KP3 to control the microsampler when u put the KP3 into ext mode. If u want to use the KP3 FX then u may find some of the tricks can't be done as in the video as u cantspecify which FX parameter is modified by the pad. Does this answer yr question ok? let me know if u need more info.

    >:o))

  • It's really amazing, but... are MS and Nanopad connected through the computer here?

  • @sergeyparfenov

Yes, nanopad and the microsampler are connected thru the PC. I have done exactly the same thing with a padKONTROL using the regular MIDI connections, so it can be done without the aid of and computer.

  • That was fun, thanks! What kind of cabling would you need to connect the nanoPad directly to the MS? Can you get USB to USB or do you need to go USB to midi?

  • Damm. You just did it! I feel like it took me to another place! Thanks!

  • @shabbee can you do it with a kp3 or the like

  • @shabbee Good news! I've started thinking about exactly Padkontrol + Microsampler combo after watching your video. I'm building a live hardware rig, and looping sampler is my next step - MS has unique features like beat slicing and keyboard-based simple step sequencer (for my R3), but on the other hand pads and touchpad are much better for finger drum magic and beat juggling.
