Recorded at Eastcroft Depot Nottingham with the help of East Midlands Trains, great job folks. Afficianados will know there are two engine types; Perkins & Cummins. This is the Perkins version, the Cummins version will follow later in the year all being well.

A bit of an extravagance I know but I've put two chips in this 3-car unit, one in each end so that the horns and cab sounds etc come from the right place. As with other two-chip projects the sounds reverse appropriately when you change ends. I do a single-chip version as well. Send me a PM if you'd like these sounds in your 158.

I used the drive units from bass reflex speakers set into larger sealed enclosures in the underframe.

  • It's already done! Furthermore, my v3.5 version of the 170 has also been upgraded for the v4 chip and features a failed start amongst other good v4 features. The engines were recorded under load on the dyno at Tyseley. I also do a 150 & 153 but like the 170 I don't have the model yet so no video.

  • I'm glad you think so. It's a Loksound v3.5 chip with my own sounds. For speakers I used the drive units from DCC Supplies bass reflex speakers fitted into a a custom built enclosure formed by the underframe.
