@MusicaParola yes! ...and particularly hard to imagine for me since she didn't sing anything like Wozzeck in the several Community Concerts I attended mid-60's!! This gives a true clue as to what she was like as Isabella in LA in the perf's crucified by the idiot M. Bernheimer in the LA Times. She and the rest of the cast simply lifted Rossini to a whole new level for our times...

@bplatt1069 agreed, and it's a pity, since this is one of her best perf's of this (as far as I know...).

Amazing, you have a good ear for music When I hear this performance, I really enjoy it and as such I miss the details that you have mentioned here. Thanks

Haha.

Vocally, she is in peak form here; however, she, the conductor, and the orchestra seem to have a somewhat tenuous link as far as the interpretation goes--probably not enough rehearsal, especially for a casual, outdoor event. That's alright, though, it's still great.

Amazingly, this is the same singer who triumphed as Marie in Berg's Wozzeck in San Francisco twenty years earlier. Quite a leap from Marie to Isabella. She is one of a kind.
