Learn how to export a model from Blender to Overgrowth.

Rundown
First we download Blender, then we create a simple model, make it smooth and unwrap it. Then we make a simple texture for the model and create the xml file that we later load in the game to spawn the object.

  • @PYates77 A normal is the direction that is perpendicular to a surface, that means that it points straight away from a surface. In computer graphics it's used to tell an engine in what direction a surface is facing, so that it doesn't have to render the backside of a surface, since that will never be seen.

A normal map is a texture image containing one normal per pixel that you can put on top of a surface. This normal map is used by the engine to give the surface more detailed lighting.

  • So whats a normal and what is it for?

  • @GertjanSluimer2 that would be pretty unuseful because since overgrowth updates all the times u would have to downloade it more than once

  • excellent tutorial

  • How do i put in a character

  • i want overgrowth for free!!!

  • PLEASE make texturing tutorial!

  • I think that the shininess has changed. Or my object came out weird. I made the colorm map, and the blank normal. It was in the engine as really shiny. When I changed the transparency of the colormap, but that made the object transparent. The normal map's transparency determined shininess on my model.

  • Your accent sounds kinda German or Swedish ... I am german :D
