@TheDudeRulez09 What we need are earthship contractors, who can help us take care of the construction work/legal details. This is great, but not many consumers are willing to go through the work. The average consumer from a developed country would rather just pay for a professional to deal with most of the hassles.

@TheKongruent Hitch-hiking on your argument because I was thinking about the same thing while watching. How exactly does this work in colder climates? Same but no homegrown-food in the winter? Or just stocking up during the harvest season? Eitherway it doesn't seem very ideal in colder climates.

@twsx It does work in Denmark and Norway, so why on earth you belief it's not working in Sweden? By the way, what do you have against Hippies? If this generation in the 70s not going different ways, nothing at all will have changed. The typical boring swedish houses from the 60s with gray asbestos plates on the outside will be everywhere now. Did the next generation change anything? Perhaps you do not fit in an earthship at all, if you do not catch the philosophy behind. Think about it a moment

@Decktrio What we also need are individuals who don’t shape the future on aesthetics alone. Building codes are in place to make sure a structure is safe. Not to keep you from building what you want. We made the building codes in the first place there is no reason we cannot add to them. There are more ways than one to “skin a cat” so to speak.

@twsx Earthships don’t come with jungles or hippies! You have to plant those yourself. As for the location, does the sun not shine in Sweden? Even if it doesn’t shine much one of these Earthships with a little help from some form of extra heat would still work. The whole point in the design is making the most out of what is available locally. If there were no sunshine at all then obviously you would not try and build a home designed for solar gain.
