This is the intro movie to the Philip Price game Tail of Beta Lyrae. This was a popular game for the Atari 400/800 computers. The music was done by Gary Gilbertson, who was well known for his musical prowess on these limited machines. In addition, the game actually "evolved" over time, introducing new gameplay elements as time passed. This meant a player might see something new even in an early level they'd played lots before. Fun game, and very difficult in the later levels too.
Philip Price was awesome! Tail of Beta Lyrae, Alternate Reality, AMP (Atari Music Processor) were all awesome! I used to just let this and International Karate (the god-like Rob Hubbard) just run, blasting out of my 13" TV. :)

Top notch music to a classic game! This appears to be the NTSC version as the music goes a little quicker than I remember.

@yoyo1poe Oh, sure, I sat through this all the time back in the '80s. The music was terrific and I loved the colors. This was such a jump from Atari 2600 and Intellivision graphics, I was thrilled. And Tale of Beta Lyrae had some of the best graphics and music on the Atari 800.

This song is magnificent. I would have searched for it for 20 years if I had heard it before today, too.

Unlike digitaldave1234, I didn't own this game, but I saw it at my uncle's house when I was much younger. The chipper, upbeat theme has also stayed with me for the better part of 20 years.

I have to admit, I wasn't round for this generation of gaming. Some of it, however, seems kinda spooky (music and such)

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I had this game, remembered the music, and searched for it online for years!

Philip Price have a unique style to programming the music of Gary Gilbertson. Very strange and fascinating to hear. A couple of years ahead they return launching the Alternate Reality title.
