The Snake-like robot prototype by Dr. Satoshi Tadoroko is used to search through a small hole in a wall for casualties on the other side. The device uses a large number of directed hairs that vibrate to provide direction. A camera is placed at the snake's head and the head can be lifted or turned slightly while in operation. It works surprisingly well. Shot at the 2007 NIST/DHS Response Robot Evaluation Exercise at Disaster City, Texas.
