I used to use this method all the time when I was in film school. I finally got my own tripod, so I'll have to try it out.

Very nice video... going to give that a try when I get back home. (Traveling for work now.) I did a few walking videos... damned near got seasick watching them... tried using Vegas Video to steady them... now they look strange.
If this works, it will really improve my videos.
