"Of course it's about oil, we can't really deny that."
Fmr. CENTCOM Commander General John Abizaid

Synopsis:
The notion that oil motivates America's military engagements in the Middle East is often disregarded as nonsense or mere conspiracy theory. Blood and Oil, a new documentary based on the critically-acclaimed work of Nation magazine defense correspondent Michael T. Klare, challenges this conventional wisdom to correct the historical record. The film unearths declassified documents and highlights forgotten passages in prominent presidential doctrines to show how concerns about oil have been at the core of American foreign policy for more than 60 years — rendering our contemporary energy and military policies virtually indistinguishable. In the end, Blood and Oil calls for a radical re-thinking of US energy policy, warning that unless we change direction, we stand to be drawn into one oil war after another as the global hunt for diminishing world petroleum supplies accelerates.

"A Declaration of Dependence" is the second section on the DVD, "Blood and Oil".

  • I think we need to be careful about how we change to alternate fuels. The use of corn for fuel has resulted in an increase of food prices.

The wars over oil are a disgrace.

I see no truth to the statement by the U.S. presidents commitment to democracy. It is an excuse to terrorize other nations.

If the U.S. presidents are so committed to democracy then why does the U.S. have so little?

    Thank you for posting this.

    Love and peace to all.

  • NOTICE: and this is key, the news casts that hihglight Saudi's human rights abuses and 'terrorist' record is NBC every time. Who owns NBC? General Electic, a player asent from the oil trade, in fact, competes with not only coal but GAS heating provided by oil. It's a game people, and the ones who are really losing are the veiwers.

Awesome vid, as always. Media Reform is surely the most important election issue to me.

  • All the people in the lord of the oil eyes are bunch of fool then. Democracy =war=oil=blood. and unfortunately this is true. But going to war with Iran is an American most risky gamble as going to war with Iran always leaded to unpredictable consequences. May be 2012...........

  • @ribbitribbitfrog I belive that USA has democrasy, the step after the kind of democrasy USA has, is called direct democrasy, that is impossible in sutch a large country. And don't lissen to the media, and the lists they make. Norway was ranked high, but the people has less to say than in the USA, where the goverment is afriad of the people. Rather than in Norway, where a political party is called populistic just because they agree with the people.

  • I remember in the 60s demonstrations at the environmental movements claimed we would run out of oil by 1986! The bullshit continues even today. It should be a wake up to see 2.5 million gallons high quality crude spraying per day from the Gulf oil well that it is quite bountiful and does not even need to be pumped.

Also see videos abiotic oil as oil is naturally made in planetary evolution.

  • America is addicted to oil , to gold , to diamond everything , that what make her a liar a killer and a cheat , going to country and running their tongue , and make wars while they R busy stealing people resources and lands shameless pigs

  • *interest

  • it is true... we try to conceal our opportunistic tendencies as a nation, by CLAIMING that we are struggling for democracy, yet we do not acknowledge the complete stifling of womens rights established in these conutries... There is always a vested interset and a hidden agenda... Its sad that I do not know who to trust in this government anymore...

  • *a playr APART fromt he oil trade

  • wow awesome vid. keep up the good work
