    1) The record for most horsepower per litre for an NA production engine is still held by Ferarri.

    2) The new NA 4.0l V8 of the BMW M3 delivering 400hp isn't too shabby either.

    3) The Mustang GT is not OHV but SOHC.

The reason OHV V8's are still used is because they are cheap at the junkyard.

In Europe old beetle engines are still popular for this same reason in some racing.

  • @blork5 Then I am old tech, because in the type of racing I am involved with/follow, the OHV is used. Specifically the small block chevy. You can still make a LOT of power out of these (900 hp 410 cubic inch normally aspirated, for example). For modern engines, the Ford Mustang GT is going to make as much HP per litre of a comparable Japanese or European V8, I'm sure. I just checked and yeah, the Mustang GT has more HP per litre than the Lexus 4.6L V8.

  • @arizonaresident1 OHV V8's are old tech.

If you want real power look at modern (European or Japanese) I6's, V8's or V12's.

  • My milkman could do a faster ET

  • aw man, that was great. Thank you
