http://www.garage9.com Please comment if you like this motor by Porsche!! The 350 HP 5.4 L 928GTS powerplant is a beast of an engine. The 928S 16 Valves are old school sweet especially the Euro with 300 HP. These engines are built-up very solid with a high level of craftsmanship and durability so they often outlast the rest of the usefulness of the car. It's good for 500,000 kms if you change the oil every now and then. But most people are scared of the running costs, particularly the fuel consumption - but at 12L/100km it's better than may SUV's.

  • I love the 928 engine! Such a deep growl at low revs, and screaming when you push it :) Very reliable, mine has done 286700 km, and it doen't use any oil, and still produces 310 hp, even 24 years old :o

  • I think they get faster/better as they break in with miles. unfortunately many seem to be forgotten before hitting those distances.

  • btw how often do you do yours tune ups? or oil changes?

  • hi - we are on the west coast (near long beach). friend of mine has his 1990 for sale. $12K cdn. oil changes 1 per year. tune ups - plugs every 40-50K km's, rotors and caps last a long time.

  • @SharkGTS and many of those beautiful cars get crashed by beginners that think "wow porsche yeah but wait its not a 911 so fuck it imma drive like a niki lauda"

  • I have always dremt of owning one and the time is fast approaching I found a beautiful 93 928GTS That i am so psyched on getting and The first thing to do is to drop in the RMB in, that growl is awesome.

  • @SharkGTS 1 per year eh? No thanks... I hate a motor that will blow a bearing when i've thrown 5k into the rest of the car...

  • great car. crap shit video

  • Very good, long lasting engines. You have to maintain them but you have to maintain any engine to get that result as well. I placed 2 Garrett turbos on mine at 169,000 miles and now the engine is making 550-630 HP and is still very reliable.

  • Gotta love the shark.

  • the drive shaft can pull from the coupler if driven hard (or it's not snug). If you see more than a few mm of splines showing on the driveshaft at the front connection, there might be excessive load on the thrust bearing. 5 min check with a small flashlight
