Another great post CF! Ridan was one of the all-time hard luck horses. Always battling and a victim of his trips but losing allot of close races. This field was loaded too with Jaiper, Decidedly Sunrise County and Crimson Satan.
It was indeed Brian Field...he did the network Triple Crown telecasts back then and would also substitute for Fred Caposella on the New York tracks on occaision.
I believe the race caller was Bryan Field. I am not sure of the spelling, but I believe that was his name. I am sure he also called Carry Back's Kentucky Derby win in 1961. You should be able to view a tape of that race on the official Kentucky Derby site.

Decidedly,Jaipur,Ridan,Greek Money,etc. these were very very good racehorses. It was a helluva battle!!!!

It sure did look like Ridan was going to pull away!
He also lost a slim photo in the Travers to Jaipur in a race that lots of experts call the greatest duel ever.
