I witnessed him win his first prize in Cleveland as well. From that point on he became a great friend of my family after interviewing him. Did anybody else go to the Cleveland International Piano Competition this year..? This year's expected first prize a bit of a step down from Ghindin, but still played fantastically.

I don't think that after one year of studying kid could play rachmaninoff concerto. It is not true of course!

Jaw dropping fantastic! I attended the same concert tonight in Western New York. What we saw was truly special. A very dramatic and exciting genius.

I just had the incredible honor of hearing Alexander Ghendin in concert this very evening. How the Concert Association in this small city of western New York ever managed to book such a talent is beyond my comprehension, but I am SO thankful that I had the opportunity to hear this remarkable pianist. The piano is an extension not only of his hands, but of his soul as well. I just witnessed one of those rare individuals who can be called a genius. Russia must be very proud of her son.
