What are Ascospores ? Ascospores are microscopic spores which develop during the winter on dead, fallen leaves that were infected the previous season. From budburst onwards, rain triggers the release of ascospores into the air. Ascospore release will continue until early December, or later in a dry season, and this is known as the primary infection season. Ascospores grow well under a variety of conditions and many are known to be plant pathogens. Ascopspores can be found everywhere and commonly grow indoors on damp materials. Spores are predominantly forcibly discharged during periods of high humidity or rain. Not much is known as to the health effects of ascospores on humans, such as potential allergens or diseases caused by ascospores. Since they are found everywhere in nature you can be sure you've encountered it. But if you would like to know more about this or other types of mold that does cause health concerns, do visit our website at http://www.bustmold.com, then browse over to facebook and give us a "Like"!
