You can setup a 'Material' type resource if you want to apply a standard rate per use. You can set the material units to Item with a cost of $1,000. You could also set it up as a 'Work' type resource and just use a 'per use' rate.

is there a way to make the cost of software same, say $1000 all over the project so whenever i assign cost of software resource to that activity, that activity will have $1000, without having to enter $1000 for the softwaere cost again for the other activities?
