  • Isn't sad and weird there's a whole generation that will never hear songs like these. That they will die without the privilege of listening at least for a second, such great music. It makes me real sad. But if I was younger, the name of the genre itself (Progressive) would make me at least a bit curious about it. Well maybe it's only me, but that was how me and my brother got interested in this kind of music. I guess we always aimed to better ourselves in all faces of life.

  • Hey that's a great video..

  • Is that you at the 4:41 mark? I really enjoyed the interpretation with today's issues...very prescient and foreboding...

  • Jocelyn Wildenstein was quite pretty before she had her face sliced and pumped.

  • Gald u switched to Phill and save Steve from another bad vocal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @vivelavidarocka LOL I like your statement. Even though I actually do like Invisible Touch (esp. Tonight Tonight Tonight and Domino). It was actually the first Genesis album I heard, way early in my childhood. However when I got older I started exploring their older stuff with Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett and I love all their albums all the way from Trespass to We Can't Dance. They're all unique in their own ways. This is why Genesis is my favorite group of all time.

  • @kamwrites Yes! There is hope for our future! It's too bad my 15 year old brother likes garbage like the majority of 15 year olds do.

  • @vivelavidarocka If I have kids, best believe they will know who Genesis is. I even play Genesis around my 2 and 3 year old nephews whenever I see them.

  • Problem is if my old man had said to me whilst I was into Bowie, Genesis et al in the 70's "Here! Listen to this great track by Bing or Rosemary Clooney!" I would have run a mile.

That said, I think anyone born post 60's did live through a magical time musically & most of that stuff will stand for millenia.

I hate to say it but I think an appreciation & understanding of bands like Genesis is down to intelligence. They are not the instant "sugar rush" of music today & need work to get into!

  • @vivelavidarocka My 15 year old son loves Genesis, YES, Queen, Metallica, RUSH, The Beatles, and many more. He also "digs" horns and big band music, loves jazz.. He plays trombone in his school band. There's hope for the future. :)

  • @vivelavidarocka I mean forced in the sense that I'll be blasting it in the car and throughout the house on a regular basis. My brother (who is a bit older than I) listened to rap music (hey what can I say, it's popular!) for all his life. Then one day he heard me listening to Thick as a Brick and he asked me what it was. About three months later, he arranged it for Piano. Now he plays arrangements based on progrock songs for a living.

  • @TheAstrozombie18 Good for you, bro. I'm not that older than you. And I know for sure, younger generations like mine, are skipping the opportunity of listening great music. Nothing personal. Also, no need to "force" your kids to listen to this music. Just expose them to it. The quality of the music itself will do the job for them to want to listen more and more. I felt so proud the day I found my YES CD compilation book inside my 11 years old son's room (next to some seeds, and a bamboo paper)
