Yeah but I hated studying it. Anyway, maybe they teach it differently in the US, but the way they teach it here they ought to call it literature! I really wouldn't mind studying the fine details of the English language, speaking properly and how meanings of words have been shaped etc.

They teach it the same way in the U.S. You're thinking of linguistics.

If I didn't know any better, I'd expect "English" to mean the study of the English language.

do some stuff on cosmology... lol. It'd be pretty good cause some people are just completely in the dark about things suck as ohysics and cosmology. It'd be nice to be able to discuss this stuff w/o them going "durrr??"
