Loved Eilat ... loved the diving, loved trekking the desert too - if Israel had not returned Sinai, I'd be living there now

Why not, you ask?
(1) Because now it is used to smuggle weapons into Azza
(2) The peace treaty finished with Mubarak, and the new Egyptian govt does not recognize it
(3) Because the hotels and lost tourist business were worth billions of lost tax revenues
(4) Because Israelis were killed in the same cities which were Sinai - given over to Egypt
(5) Because Israel lost a huge and unique air base in Sinai
There are more reasons not to have given back Sinai. Is that enough for you?

Eilat is a good destination for Israelis needing a vacation but cannot be considered an end point for the international traveler since many other countries offer better beaches and upgraded facilities. Needs more development.
