Orson Welles. The greatest genius of radio, stage and screen...period. The subtlety and nuance in the way he massages that scene is beyond belief.
For me, anything he ever played immediately had an air of mystery and suspense about it...which came directly from Welles. No one...and I mean NO one...had the power of presence that he commanded. No WONDER everyone thought Mars was invading earth...when Welles says it, it stays said!
