"(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" is a song recorded and released in 1976 by KC & The Sunshine Band for the album "Part 3". The song became their third number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as their third number-one on the soul singles chart. The song was originally controversial, since the lyrics were interpreted by many as having sexual connotations. The b-side of "Shake Your Booty" was "Boogie Shoes", which later became a hit on its own when it appeared on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack in 1978. Co-writer Richard Finch explained to Songfacts that this song was directly inspired by dance moves they witnessed in clubs, especially when somebody broke loose and started to 'shake their booty.' "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" holds the record for being the only number-one song title with a word repeated more than three times in it. The chorus consists of the title expression with the word 'shake' appearing eight times. KC & The Sunshine Band is an American musical group. Founded in 1973 in Miami, Florida, their style has included funk, R&B, and disco. They took their name from lead vocalist Harry Wayne Casey's last name ('KC') and the 'Sunshine Band' from KC's home state of Florida ('The Sunshine State'). This channel is dedicated to all the great 'old school' R&B music I grew up with, the stuff that originally made me tap my feet and want to be a DJ. Funk, soul, disco, R&B, dance, hip-hop, pop . . . 60s, 70s, 80s . . . whatever you call it, it's all 'Old School' and it's all here!
