    Yeah but how well??

  • Pt 2: While she brings a great deal of her naturalness to her singing, if she was to be even simpler in how she addresses the piece, she may reveal even more ease within but especially more of her lovely natural voice which is displayed in her speech. I know it's a tenor aria, but Mozart's Il Mio Tesoro sung by John McCormack is a classic example of singing with great simplicity but to great effect. McCormack always 'talked' to the listener when he sang. All that said, she has great talent bravo

  • When I listen to this again, I hear when Pumeza 1st talks, her voice has great clarity, warmth, rich and velvet colours. She has a great spirit and a passion for her work. When she sings she also brings great passion and clarity to her singing coupled with a good vocal line. If she were to sing this acapella without the vocal score and think in terms of just 'saying' the words from her own natural ability while dwelling on the mindset of a good storyteller, she may feel an extra level of freedom

  • Respond to this video... ... following on... As I said, I am nobody nor do I have any of my songs recorded as yet. However, most examples of the true art of singing can be found in the songs recorded before WW2. On my channel listen for example to Ninon Vallin. This is singing in its purest form. Please understand, there's no secret to this. Singing and speaking are the same. What is wrong in general is the perception that there's more to it, that one has to do something with the voice.

  • @mojopum I never professed that I knew it all. Indeed, the art of singing is a lifetime of study - you never stop learning. Caruso, McCormack, Tetrazzini would have said the same at the height of their careers. If my comments sound egotistical then that is my fault in my attempt to convey what I feel. I am nobody. But I do know that the true art of singing is not apparent today as it was not so long ago, which is a tragedy. It is the respect for the art itself that lies behind my comments.

  • @AmhranaiAlainn Full of crap- so if you can walk you can dance?. Usually people who talk so much know only that. I would like you to hear you sing. any video here on youtube Mr. Know it all?

  • @mojopum Yes. But then so are you. If you can speak, you can sing.

  • @AmhranaiAlainn Are u a singer?

  • What a beautiful voice!

  • @ironbrush Sure, but I'm not bitter. Singing is not about your voice but about the way you use it. So, how do you use it when you sing? The same way as when you speak ... naturally. The unique vocal signature that is used to say for example 'night' remains the same when sung. What brings the word alive is expression within the context of the story being sung. When tone is used instead of 'spoken expression' to 'help' proceedings it hides the true vocal beauty of the singer to varying degrees.
