do you sell this?

@ZealCNC So, DC drives can sing, too? I guess that makes sense. Thanks for letting me know :)

@rocketmagnet - I built it :)

@stanley6602 You can have C-axis function too! Nice

I think I hear a 3-phase AC induction motor hooked to up to a variable frequency drive. I love that singing sound at startup and low speeds. Servo? Is there position feedback on the shaft for speed regulation?

@AnotherGlenn - close, it's a brushless servo with a 2000 line encoder and a servo drive. The drive has encoder pass through so threading/tapping should be no problem.

@ZealCNC Thanks for your quick reply. So, the motor itself is a brushless DC? The singing says to me, AC motor with VFD. Who makes that servo?

@AnotherGlenn Yes, both axis and the spindle have Allen Bradley servos and servo drives in this video but I've removed the drives and built a control box with Granite Devices drives for the lathe now. Most of the singing noise is from the X and Z axis servos, which are tuned pretty stiff.

I'd love to see a bigger versio of this say like 7x10 or 9x20.

@gbowne1 - Me to, ideally in my workshop...
