@dirtbikerdude91 It's not that they ended the shuttle program. That was always going to happen. It's that they ended it with nothing to take its place. We have to hitchhike with the Russians. The reason we can't afford the Constellation program or another trip to the moon is that Obama has spent us into bankruptcy. Nearly every problem we have can be traced back to the fact that Obama is the single worst president in US history.

@dirtbikerdude91 The shuttle program was always set to expire after 30 years. The shuttles are old and ready to be static displays. Please don't start with the blame it on Bush approach that all you libs fall back on. Now what Obama did was to kill newer programs like the Mars program and the return to moon (constellation) program.

What Obama hates is any kind of American exceptionalism.

@nothri Why do democrats always assume that someone upset with the government is a Republican? I am, but that is not the issue. Obama DID scrap our next generation launch vehicle. However my beef is with NASA itself as much as him. They were looking at shuttle replacements long before W was even in office but never moved on any of them. And I have PLENTY of reasons to dislike Obama besides his disdain for NASA.

@jtkirkfan2002 As I mentioned below, it was always the plan to take years to replace the shuttle program. I was reading about Bush's plan to scrap the space shuttle and piggyback off the Russians back in 2004. GWB's plan had nothing to replace the program with for a decade. Its really incredible the way the Republican party literally came up with the entire plan step by step and now suddenly chooses to be up in arms about it simply because the Democrat is choosing to proceed as they outlined.

Pretty incredible, Perry complaining about the space shuttle program. George Bush outline the plan to scrap the space shuttle and outsource our space exploration needs to the Russians in 2004. Obama has been simply carrying out the plan Perry's protege created. Where was Perry's outrage at the time?
