You are right. It doesn't make sense. I meant to say, "leaving EVERYTHING on the stage". The exercise is designed to train the singer to use and strengthen the diaphram and move away from the natural habit of chest breathing. I was that boy's age when my coach used that exercise with me and it helped all the way through my opera career. Reputable voice coaches use many different techniques and they often run counter to each other in my experience. In the end you find what works & stay with it
"leaving nothing on the stage" doesnt make sense....and that exercise is not really good advice....just keep taking voice lessons and get more experience I am a vocal coach, dont listen to anyone other than your coach and yourself right now...you have what it takes keep practicing your tone is beautiful...you will go far if u can support your breathing and prevent yourself from going flat..you are frequently under the pitch but u got the quality...the natural talent is there BEST OF LUCK
This was interesting. First of all the young man is 15. The baritone voice doesn't mature until well into the 30's. He must work until he reaches his peak in about 20 years.
His biggest issue is breathing. In short, his support is undisciplined. Do vocalization exercises with a stack of three large yellow pages held straight out in front of you.
Stage presence. You must get more comfortable. It's not just about singing. It's about performing and leaving nothing on the stage .
I have to say this video doesn't do him justice at all.
He was AMAZING when I saw him perform in person.
He has one of the best male singing voices I've ever heard personally.
