I discovered some rare video of Dave Hoover and the Coors Silver Bullet BD-5J while uncovering some video on Byron's large scale B-29 R/C model. This video has both the full-sized jet as will as the ducted fan R/C model. While preparing this I recalled that I had a Flying magazine, January 1976, that had an article on the plane. Author Richard Bach of "Johnathan Livingston Seagull" fame had the first flying jet version of the BD-5J. Dig..., dig..., dig..., nope, dig..., Ahh!!!!! Okay, the orange shag carpet does fit his paint scheme. Enjoy!

Many thanks to Byron and his Aviation Expo '87 team!

  • Dave was my husband and a really great guy.

  • @crowncentral Wow... Well history is something and he was a piece of it. As NASA Chief Astronaut Deke Slayton said, "Keep the dream alive."

  • Of course I would say that.

  • I was one of the RC performers in this show, and spent quite a bit of time talking with Dave. He was a true gentleman and an exceptional pilot. He was one of the many great airshow performers that were tragically lost too soon.

  • CK. YOUTUBE BD-5 AIRCRAFT IN MIAMI

  • Dave Hoover took me in my first loop at the Ohio University airport in the 1960's. He was great fun, always making up songs that he sang while playing the banjo. Great guy

  • I worked for Dave Hoover as a teenager and traveled all over the U.S. and Canada with the Coors Light Silver Bullet Jet Team and later after the Coors Light team dissolved. He was my mentor and I credit him with all the success that I've had in my career. I've never seen this footage before. Thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome!!!!!
