@JJenneweinSTL explain how it taxes the poor more than the rich? cause what Im understanding is that it takes the taxes out of the paychecks (poor people) and puts it in the consumption, (which is what poor and rich people do)? do the poor buy more things than the rich?

This puts the heaviest tax burden on the poor and working class who live pay-check to pay-check while billionaires receive a tax shelter. Millionaires and billionaires can well afford paying sales taxes. Do people really believe that every multi-millionaire is a company owner that hands out jobs when left untaxed?

its much better to tax consumption instead of productivity like we are. the tax system and the regulations combined are choking away the middle class. and its already illegal not to pay taxes so if you say it will give the government the right to tax us, well guess what they already do!

oh gawd. the fkn fair tax will give the goverment the right to tax us.. wtf!!? the only legal tax is impost and excise, taxes on items bought.. read artical 1

What all this hides, of course, is that the total taxes collected will fall, the poor will pay a larger share, the rich will keep a larger share, and the services that the government provides to those that cannot afford them will fall.

Beware of these names. They're all the same person, a FairTax
spammer who doesn't work and doesn't pay taxes.

@laudanum4u Do you know when the new law goes into effect?

@TheAmericanRifleman according to fairtax.org it already passed
Thanks for posting this. Prices will not rise with the FairTax. When the income tax is removed, prices will drop due to competition. This has always happened in the past. Ask any economics student. Profits stay steady at 5 to 8 percent. That's the beauty of capitalism. The poor will pay no taxes, due to the prebate. MORE people will be paying taxes because illegals and criminals will pay. 250 billion dollars will be eliminated from the collection overhead.

Way to go Missouri! New Jersey is considering similar legislation... other states to follow. No state wants to be left behind. Missouri will see an influx of new business because of the FairTax.
