This is my replication of the Imhotep Radiant Oscillator Lite placed into a small plastic box. Internal rechargable batteries were added so that it could run without being plugged into a power source.

  • Great work lid!

I've been watching several vid's on this.

I would like to add this set up to my bedini.

    I'm really impressed.

One question, does it have to be a coil for a 67 camero?

    Or can you use another?

    Eddie

  • Eddie--You can use any ignition coil that makes a high voltage spark. Go to any auto parts store and ask for the cheapest one that does not have a resistor in it. Or go to a junk yard and get one.

  • Cool, I will do that.

Can't get this circuit out if my head...LOL!

    Another question please.

Does the out put of the bedini basicly become the power supply for the IRO minus the auto relay?

I obviously need to study this circuit closer if I want to be sucsessful.

    Thanks Lid

    Eddie

  • Thats it Eddie. It just takes over the job of pulsing the ignition coil. Later on I replaced the Bedini circuit with a 555 timer circuit and a couple of transistors. There is all kinds of ways to make this work.

  • Well congratulations on revision 1.0 of your Imhotep radiant oscillator! If you project into the future later revs get smaller and cost less and store more energy!

I would be curious to know the resistance of Mart's light bulb filaments. The light bulb is masquerading as a high wattage resistor. It might be a 25-watt bulb, and you may be aware that a 10-watt ceramic resistor looks like a big rectangular cinder block, about the size of 1/2 of a piece of Kit-Kat.

  • Drevtoobe, Thanks for checking in on this project. I do read ALL your comments and you have helped me understand many things. The push right now in the group is to trigger the system by using a self oscillating Bedini SSG circuit. Yes we are trying to eleminate the energy theives. Mart's light bulb is just a standard 2 filament 12v tail light bulb acting like a ballast resistor. Fun to look at. I like your finger warmer idea. On cold nights at sea I may just use it. :)

  • GREAT VID INSTALLED COIL TO MY BADINI WORKED GREAT THINKING ABOUT ADDING ANOTHER COIL TRY TO GET 4 LIGHTS RUNNING I NOTICED AFTER YOU SHUT IT OFF AND DISCONNECT MY WIRES MY SCOPE SAYS THERE IS STILL ACTIVITY ANY CLUE WHAT THAT COULD BE ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR THE HELP

  • Hi, Lid. Great job. I'm working on one now. I know it's been awhile since you've worked on this, but I was hoping you might answer some questions I have. In you setup I see two caps. One to the collector and one across the coils. What's there function? Would a cap from a camera do for the coils? Lastly. I wasn't able to get JB solid state to work, but I managed to get the ssg self ocillating. Do you think there is a disadvantage to doing it this way? Thanks for any help you can give.

    Robert

  • Nice, Have you got a schematic?

  • fantastic I really think that this is the way to replicate the Gray could electricity circuit.

  • wow im blown away!! You were able to incorporate all the additions and still get it to fit it in a box. Amazing. 5 stars !!

  • Yes an all-electronic trigger would be good. The relay trigger is akin to the chattering teeth from the magician's shop. Perhaps you will need to trigger a MOSFET with a 555 timer or something.

I can suggest a search for you: Look up how a car's electronic ignition circuit works because you are doing essentially the same thing.
