@davehshs There is no point of apologizing for "The Gadfly". Who can say that one should not make beautiful music romanticizing adolf? But to play it in a jewish temple, well, you get the point.
@m4yue Even though the protagonist of "The Gadfly" is an atheist, the book is not truly anti-religious. It is more anti-hypocrisy. The man becomes an atheist because he is betrayed by religious hypocrites, a priest and a cardinal, who themselves betray the real teachings of Jesus. And as for Shostakovich's music, only a true fanatic would associate such beauty with anti-religiousness.
